2020 NCSHLA Convention Cancelled

The North Carolina Speech, Hearing and Language Association Board of Directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Convention, scheduled for April 22-24 in Winston-Salem, due to the continued rapid spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

In recent days, a number of significant changes have made cancellation of our Annual Convention unavoidable. The Governor of North Carolina declared a State of Emergency and strongly recommended that all events with over 100 participants be cancelled. In addition, new travel restrictions imposed by universities and employers around the country prevented a growing portion of our registrants from participating in our Convention as presenters and attendees.

We will explore alternate continuing education programs with presenters as part of our ongoing commitment to equipping Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists with the resources needed to provide effective services and to enhance the lives of citizens in North Carolina who have communication impairments.

NCSHLA has instituted a flexible refund policy that gives registrants the option to apply their registration fee as a credit for future continuing education events, or receive a full refund. If you or your organization would like to defer your registration investment to be applied to a future event, you must contact info@ncshla.org no later than Monday, March 30, 2020. Otherwise, full refunds will be issued automatically within 60 days from March 15, 2020. If you booked a hotel room, you will need to cancel your hotel reservations immediately.

We will share additional information that is usually discussed at the annual business meeting (e.g., budget, election, awards, etc.) in the near future. If you have a concern that is not addressed here, please email info@ncshla.org.
