CALL CONGRESS! State Budget Counting on FMAP

Please call your U.S. Senators to let them know that North Carolina needs extended Medicaid funding.  $500 Million in the current state budget is depending on it!

Message:

NC’s state budget and thousands of families and children are counting on Congress to extend the enhanced FMAP rates.  Without this federal funding, North Carolina will be forced to further cut vital services for families and children – before June 30th!

Senator Richard Burr:  800-685-8916

Senator Kay Hagan:  877-852-9462

Background:

Along with 30 other states, NC has counted on an extension of the enhanced Medicaid matching rate (FMAP) to balance the upcoming year’s budget –$500 Million worth of ‘counted on.’  Without this crucial federal funding, state lawmakers would have to revamp the entire state budget and all of our most vulnerable populations would be affected.  Of the $19 Billion budget, half a billion dollars is an enormous hit to have to take at this late stage of the budget process.

The Senate has not yet passed this critical bill that would extend the FMAP dollars through June 2011.  There is still time to pass the extension --  but they have to hear from you now!

Please contact your Senators and Congressman/woman today and let them know that NC’s children and families are counting on them!

Believe!
