Current Beliefs and Practices Surround Ankyloglossia Utilized by SLPs

Published: 2010-05-17

You are invited to participate in a study examining the current beliefs and practices used by speech-language pathologists (SLPs) when assessing and treating clients for ankyloglossia (also known as “tongue-tie”).  The study consists of an electronic survey, available through Survey Monkey, and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Assessing and treating clients with ankyloglossia is a recognized need.  However, little information is known about how SLPs evaluate and treat this condition.  No financial compensation will be provided for completing the survey.  We hope this information will help researchers understand the common practices that SLPs utilize during the assessment and intervention process when working with clients with ankyloglossia.

Information collected from the survey is confidential.  No identifying information (i.e., age, address, geographic location) will be requested.  Participation in the survey is voluntary.  Participants are not required to respond to any questions they do not wish to answer.  Participants are free to withdraw from the study at any time, even after beginning the survey.  Participants must be at least 18 years old to complete the survey.  There are no known risks associated with participating in the study.

The survey can be accessed via the following link:

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of the researchers via e-mail:

Thank you for your support in examining the current beliefs and practices used by speech-language pathologists when assessing and treating clients for ankyloglossia.
